Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A) Some of the main points I notice is what is right and what is wrong when taking pictures. Also, just how most pictures are edited and sometimes its hard to believe the first picture from the one that is open for everyone to see.

B) The philosophy is that editing pictures is an art. They don't see anything wrong with it.

C) I think there is a certain extent that will or will not cross the line unto an unethical manipulation. I think little things like making teeth whiter is ok, but if you are going to change the photo where it doesn't even look like the person anymore that crosses the line.

D) I put this photo because I think this shows unethical editing. This caused a lot of issues on how they tired to make the picture darker. This is bad because it makes him look like an even worse person since its editd all dark.

E) I don't think this photo is as bad as the other. I think this because you can barely notice her teeth. Also, because it doesn't put a bad or good influence on the picture.

Simplicity

For this picture I followed the rule simplicity. Because the main subject is just the book and then the background is blank. I think it would be pretty easy to see what my subject.

Rule Of Thirds

I followed the composition rule rule of thirds. The subject is the bulldog. I think it might be a little hard to see what my rule I am using, so I should've angled the dog a little more to where its in one of the points.

Lines

I used the composition rule lines. I would say the subject is the light. Or just even that the whole picture is covered in lines. I think it is very clear to see what rule I am using.

Balance

In this picture I thought it was good for balance because the windows are evenly spread out and there are four of them. I think if someone looked at my picture I think it would be easy to figure out what rule I used.

Border Merger

I thought this was good for border merger because the whole picture has stuff going on and the hands in the picture added like a border. I think this picture might be hard to recognize what my picture is about. I could've pick a different background.

Near Merger

For this picture I thought it was good for Near Merger because the main subject is the poster but in the background there is still stuff going on. I think it might be a little hard to figure what this picture is I think I could've just taken a better picture overall.

"Filling the Frame"

This picture fills the frame because there is interesting stuff throughout the picture.

"The Story"

I think this picture is telling a story about how the student and teachers relationship, how they learn but still have fun.

"Action and Emotion"

This picture shows how this girl is putting lot of effort into picking the weeds and taking care of her school.

The next photo that I choose was in black and white. This picture was from a birds eye view of a kid in the library with a bunch of books around him. I chose this picture because it was a cool photo and an accurate representation of what the school life is like, surrounded by books and work.
I think when I take pictures ill take pictures in the library. I want to take pictures there because it will have some cool spots to take pictures at and I don't think anyone else will think about it. Also, I think in the library there will be people there and all the bookshelves in there I could make look cool.

Post Shoot Reflection

1) The problems I encountered while taking my first pictures was not having enough time and not exactly knowing what to take pictures of. No ideas were really coming to me.

2) The aspect I worry about the most is probably how the lighting is. An example is when I went from outside to inside I had to make the lighting good to make the hallway look cooler.

3) I would would take more pictures overall, because I felt I didn't have that many pictures to pick from. Also, I would've just took longer on each picture a little more. Because I like a lot of my pictures but there are a few things I would change.

4) I would keep my picture ideas and the picture itself the same. I would also keep how I didn't just take pictures of flowers, most of my pictures are different.

5) In my pictures I took a picture that was a simplicity picture, because its my jean jacket and the background is plain. Also, the picture I took of the hallway is filled with lines.

6) I would be down to shoot those pictures again if I took some more time on each one.

I used this photo because the background doesn't distract from the main point. Which is the building and the fire. The idea for this photo was simplicity, and I thought this photo worked well for it.

Pic3

For this picture I thought it could for rule of thirds. Rule of thirds is when the main point is in one of the points where the lines meet.

For this picture I thought the lines on the building structure was cool and was like the main point of the picture. Even though its not necessarily the main part it still adds a lot.

For this picture I thought it was good for balance. Balance is where like everything in the photo is balancing everything else out.

This photo I thought represented border merger well. Because it cuts off the rest of the picture. Like if you look more on the left side of the picture there are more noticeable things getting cut off.

This picture is showing near merger because you see the firefighter bending down but then you can distracted by the things in the background.

My Four Best

In this picture I used rule of thirds.
In this picture I used simplicity.

In this photo I used the rule of lines.

In this photo there wasn't really a rule. I kind of used simplicity or rule of thirds.

My Thoughts

When I read those two articles I wasn't shocked, because I've heard all those stories before. Im not saying like its not a big deal but I have heard them before. When I do read that stuff it is sad and its hard to realize like what if i knew someone that died. That would be hard. It still is  hard because those people did not deserve that nor knew about it.

"The Camera"

1) The saying "camera obscura" is latin for "dark room." The hole was suppose to like a lens, transferring the light onto the wall.
2) The camera was inhancing when Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens increased there knowledge of optics and how to make lens better.
3) Niepce created film in the camera which is still around in modern day cameras. Along with, glass lens, and a dark box.
4) The part that Niepce created thats still around is the film in cameras.
5) In modern day cameras they have built in computer gadgets to focus and exposure, unlike old cameras.
6) Auto Mode is what most cameras are set to. It makes photography a lot easier. You can just aim, and take a picture.
7) The Portrait Mode is suppose to be used for when you are taking pictures and want to blur out the background. When taking the picture the camera uses the fastest lens.
8) The Sport Mode is used for freeze motion, it takes pictures in the fastest shutter possible.
9) You should only half press the trigger so it will focus.
10) That symbol means there is no flash on. You should use it when the photographer maybe wants it more dramatic.
11) This symbol is when the flash is on automatic, which means the flash will go off when the camera thinks the photo needs more light.
12) If there is too much light the picture will not look "real-life." Also will make the photo look over exposed.
13) If there is not enough light in the photo it will look too dark.
14) The term "stop" is meant so the photographer can adjust the lighting on the camera.
15) If there are two suns instead of one, it will be one stop brighter.
16) If there are four suns instead of two, it will be two stops brighter.
17) If the shutter is longer than it will make the photo brighter.
18) The affect a shorter shutter is that the picture will be darker.
19) The aperture control controls the lighting, like a pupil.
20) You can adjust the aperture by moving the aperture settings, by moving like f6 to f8 is two stops brighter.
